Offshore
Offshore Wind Blade Inspection
Marine-hardened NDT for harsh offshore environments
Offshore blades live in salt fog, high humidity and hard wind, and every technician transfer costs thousands. Our offshore solution fields IP67-rated crawlers with remote operation, so the rope team stays on the deck and the crawler does the work at height. A 100 m tether or a 4G/5G link carries the data ashore in real time, so engineering review begins while the crawler is still on the blade.
Challenges
- A technician transfer by CTV or jack-up costs more per day than the inspection itself, and a closed weather window writes off the trip
- Salt spray drives leading-edge erosion and bond-line degradation, so the corrosion rate sets the inspection interval
- Remote sites need the data ashore in real time, not on a hard drive that leaves with the vessel
How we solve it
- IP67 and NEMA 4X crawlers are rated for continuous salt-fog exposure at -20 °C
- A 100 m fiber-optic tether or a 4G/5G link lets one technician run the scan from the deck
- Each result pushes to the onshore SAS-300 dashboard, so engineering review starts while the crawler is still on the blade
Outcomes
- → 6 h battery runtime
- → IP67 / NEMA 4X sealed
- → Single-technician workflow
