Composite NDT
Composite Material NDT
Beyond wind, automated UT, ET and thermography for aerospace and marine composites
The same open-architecture platform that inspects wind blades serves aerospace and marine composites. PIP-400 hosts multi-brand probes on one interface, so the probe is matched to the part rather than to the platform. Complex geometry is handled by scripted scan paths through the Python and C++ SDK, and every result is reported against ASME BPVC Section V or ASTM E2580 as the drawing demands.
Challenges
- Aerospace acceptance criteria are tighter than wind, so a scan plan proven on a blade still needs re-qualification on a composite part
- Probe vendor lock-in limits inspection flexibility, and a closed platform prices the probe set against you
- Complex curvatures need adaptive scan paths that a fixed raster cannot follow
How we solve it
- PIP-400 runs Eddyfi, Zetec, Olympus and Dolphitech probes on one platform
- Scan paths are scripted through the Python and C++ SDK, so complex geometry is followed rather than approximated
- SAS-300 delivers traceable, audit-ready reporting mapped to ASME BPVC Section V
Outcomes
- → Multi-modality (UT, ET, thermography)
- → Open probe ecosystem
- → Custom scan paths via SDK
